About Dimitris
Born on October 17th in Arkalochori, Heraklion. His debut with music was at the age of 9. He first took mandolin lessons, and a little later he learned to play the Cretan lyra. His acquaintance with the lute begins when he was 12. A year later, he began piano and music theory lessons at the Minoan Conservatory of Heraklion, where he got a Degree in Music. He’s also playing the guitar, bass, percussion instruments and oud.
In 2004 he collaborated for a year with Vangelis Pythatroulis who was also his teacher during his first steps in mandolin. From 2005 to 2015 he collaborated with his brother Manolis Spyridakis and since 2016 he has his own band “Spyridakis Dimitris”.
